Recognizing the limitations that physically prevent many people from comfortably progressing in a strictly land-based rehabilitation program, we offer an aquatic option. The natural buoyant factors of water allow for 80% of the body’s weight to be removed when submerged to the neck. This allows a natural decompression of the spine and other weight-bearing joints of the body.
Our center has a HydroWorx Instafit 500 pool, featuring an underwater treadmill., variable resistance jets, an underwater camera, and a hydrotherapy massage hose.
We live on land, and the need to train the body on land must be a part of any rehabilitation program. Appropriate exercises to strengthen weakened areas of the body, combined with flexibility training and balance training are provided to re-establish proper muscle firing patterns. Postural training and core development play a crucial role in this process. Maintaining a regular exercise program, properly suited for the individual’s needs will allow them to move with the greatest amount of ease and function, and provides for improved metabolism and bone density, which are dependent on maintaining sufficient lean muscle mass for our skeletal systems.
